Decade of 1940: war, violence and death. There was urgency for the creation a way for keeping alive. The strongest, with a little of luck survived, and the others died. Being a result of the basic need for survival, Krav Maga was born in the middle of the 40s by Imi Lichtenfeld (ZL) in Israel.
It was from this need of struggling for life, that a man, Imi Lichtenfeld (ZL), created a method to survive in the middle of all that horror. He perceived that all the techniques of combats and fighting that previously existed had no value in the present reality. And having his own body as his only available tool, as if being enlightened, he perceived that this "tool" could be very powerful. He understood that his natural movements could be worked upon for his self-defense and combat, and that his weak and sensitive spots were also the same for his enemies and adversaries, because after all, all bodies have the same basic constitution. Having concluded this, which to us seems obvious, he decided to create one corporal and spiritual technique that would be efficient for anyone, independent of force or physical conditioning, age or sex, to defend his life with what he owns: his mind and his body.
In the middle of the 40s, Krav Maga was created by Imi Lichtenfeld (ZL) in Israel, just before its independence. A way of life for the man of the new times, that gives solutions for any kind of violence, be it armed or unarmed and even against terrorist attacks and hostage situations. How is this possible? It is possible because its basic principal is truthful, indisputable and unconditional. It works for everyone, in any situation. Having as its cradle the Jewish resistance movements in Europe during World War II, it developed and ripened in Israel, being used by the defense groups that existed there, and with the independence of the State of Israel in 1948, it became the philosophy adopted by the Tzahal (the Israeli Military Service), the Police and the Secret Service. At the beginning it was exclusive only to the Military Elite, but since 1964, its teaching was liberated to all of the military and the civilian population inside the State of Israel.
It was at this moment that its creator, concerned with the continuity of his work, the spreading of Krav Maga techniques to the entire world and to future generations, selected a small group to be trained and prepared for this task, of which Master Kobi is an integral part. In 1987, Krav Maga was allowed to be used outside of Israel. Several countries like the USA, England, and France have requested courses and obtained great success and acceptance. In 1990, the first black belt left Israel to spread out Krav Maga, Master Kobi arrives in Brazil, as the only representative of the art in South America.
